Hello Woodshire Neighbors!
Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Business Meeting on January 14 at the Linkwood Community Center. We appreciate the good turnout and helpful discussions. Here’s a quick recap:
2026 Board Election Results
Board elections were held: The 2026 slate was unanimously approved: Jonna Hitchcock (President), Mary Shapiro (VP), Shawn Jackson (Treasurer), Liane LaCour (Recording Secretary), Franny LeGrand (Corresponding Secretary), Paul Johnson (Deed Restriction Chair), Shishi Ahmadi (Deed Restriction Committee).
Quick introduction: I’m Jonna Hitchcock and I’m honored to have been elected civic club President for 2026. I’ve lived on Mischire for five years and served as Vice President of the civic club for the last two. You may have visited my front yard for one of our Ice Cream Socials! As I step into this role, I want to give immense thanks to outgoing President Christian Gubitz for his leadership and the many neighborhood improvements achieved during his tenure. My goal is simple: to keep things going, maintain the progress that’s been made, and continue building an even stronger community spirit across Woodshire — where neighbors feel connected, informed, safe, and proud of where we live.
Dues reminder
Annual dues remain at $200, and we ask neighbors to pay by March 31 when possible, which helps with planning and yearly budgeting. It also makes it easier for the board to focus on other useful (and fun!) projects beyond membership drives and dues reminders.

Key updates from the meeting
Finances:Treasurer Shawn Jackson shared strong financial news, including improved participation in 2025 (about 60% of households). The club is currently in stable shape with more than one year of expenses in reserve.
Security: It was noted that Woodshire remains contracted solely with GardaWorld for security patrols. Woodside uses Seal Security and their cars are sometimes seen in our neighborhood.
Deed Restrictions: The Deed Restriction Committee noted that the survey feedback showed limited support for major changes. The committee will continue monitoring and addressing issues as needed. Our existing deed restrictions are enforceable.
Residents discussed ongoing concerns with a business being run from a home in the neighborhood, which violates our deed restrictions and brings more cars in and out each day, occupying much of the nearby street parking. There has been continued outreach to the City of Houston.
Yard Signs: 2026 yard signs are available for dues-paying households.Block captains will take old signs down in March.
Speeding on Leeshire: Strategies were discussed to reduce speeding. Speed bumps are difficult to get approved by the city. Putting some “Children at Play” signs up was proposed as an alternative which can be implemented now.
Tribute to Christian Gubitz: The board signed and presented Christian with a book called “Wise Trees” as a thank you for his stellar leadership and dedicated service to Woodshire, as well as his commitment to planting and caring for trees across our neighborhood.
Next meeting
Please mark your calendar: our next civic club meeting is Wednesday, April 22 at 6:30 PM at Linkwood Community Center.
Thank you again for your support, and for helping keep Woodshire a strong, safe, and welcoming neighborhood.Warmly,Jonna Hitchcock Woodshire CC President
